The Nigerian Army has confirmed the killing of one soldier and many others by suspected armed herdsmen at a village in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State where troops have been deployed to keep the peace over persistent attacks in the area.

Force Commander of Operation whirl stroke, Major General Sunday Iserihen who confirmed this to newsmen, said the troops in response  to the attack, killed three and injured several of the herdsmen, adding that one ak-47 and rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.

General Sunday therefore assured that the military is carrying out a clearance operation to flush out suspected armed foreign herders who have invaded the Kwande Local Government Area of the State where many villagers were killed over the weekend.
