A bill seeking to amend the electoral act has scaled through a second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill, which is sponsored by Francis Waive, proposed that the general elections be conducted on the same day in order to save money and time for the country.

The amendment also seeks to make electronic transmission of results compulsory and punish persons who file senseless petitions with heavy fines in order to reduce the number of cases that will end up in court.
