The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted a shipment of assorted arms and ammunition originating from turkey and estimated to worth about 13.9 Billion Naira in Rivers state.

Speaking to Journalists, The Controller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, revealed that the 40 feet container with registration number maeu165396 was impounded when the importer attempted to bypass protocol and on inspection, it was discovered to be carrying 844 units of rifles and one hundred and twelve thousand, five hundred pieces of live ammunition.

He further disclosed that three suspects have been arrested and are in custody while investigations are ongoing to fathom the circumstances surrounding the shipment.
