Edo state government says the recent protest by pensioners in the state over payment of gratuities to retirees is politically motivated
Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikare, who disclosed this in an interview with journalist, explained that the state government paid one Billion Naira as gratuity to pensioners last year and also set aside 15 Billion Naira to clear pension and gratuities in 2023.
Recall that the pensioners had accused the state government of not paying gratuity of those that retired before 2016 when the present administration came on board.
