The Federal Government has called on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to shelve their planned nationwide strike.
Recall that both unions had earlier in the day called on workers across the country to down tools at midnight in protest against the alleged assault on the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero by suspected thugs in Owerri, Imo State, on the 1st of November, 2023 while the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) also directed its members to join the nationwide strike.
However, the Special Assistant to the AGF on Communication and Publicity, Kamarudeen Ogundele, reminded the unions about a court order, barring them from going on strike, insisting that any action taken in violation of the court will amount to contempt.
