Former President Goodluck Jonathan has advocated for a law mandating governorship and presidential aspirants to contest primaries as a pair in order to reduce friction between themselves and their deputies.
Jonathan, speaking at a book launch in honour of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje decried the unfriendly relationship between governors and their deputies which made it impossible for many governors to nominate their deputies to take over from them.
He advocates for the constitutional definition of the roles of deputy governors and vice presidents in order to make their office functional and relevant.
