Residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital have expressed their displeasure over the redesigned Naira notes as some business owners, malls, stores, filling stations and commercial banks have stopped collecting the old 200, 500 and 1000 Naira note as a legal tender from their customers.
This is as the association of fish sellers that cut across branches in Abeokuta led by one of their heads, Adekanbi Funmilayo, staged a peaceful protest to Family FM at the early hours of today, lamenting that their business have been obstructed due to the development, contrary to the ruling of the supreme court restraining the federal government from enforcing the February 10 time limit earlier fixed by the apex bank for the currency swap.
They however appealed to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun to intervene in the situation in order to avert the suffering of the people.
