The leadership of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria, Lagos state chapter has reiterated the commitment of its members to embark on a seven-day strike with effect from today, 31st of October, 2022 over the alleged extortion by the motor parks and garages management in the state.
The group, who spoke to newsmen in a statement by its lawyer, Ayo Ademiluyi, lamented that its members have lost half of their income to motor park ticketing, while stating that they got arrested whenever they refused to pay for the tickets.
Ademiluyi however insisted that the group are against paying motor park thugs at every bus stop, harassment of law enforcement agencies and intimidation with guns, cutlasses by state traffic management authority, while urging the state government to provide official bus stops in each community to avoid incessant arrests.
