Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, says voters, not artificial intelligence algorithms, will determine the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
Amupitan spoke at the artificial intelligence and democracy forum 2026 in Abuja, stressing that technology must remain subject to human judgment and democratic institutions.
He warned that artificial intelligence can affect election logistics and attempts to manipulate the electoral process, stressing the need to safeguard the credibility of the 2027 elections.
