The Nigerian senate has prioritised deliberations on state police, with discussions set to begin this week as part of ongoing constitutional amendment efforts aimed at tackling insecurity.
Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele said the upper chamber has held consultations with key stakeholders and is committed to advancing Nigerians’ demand for decentralised policing.
He also disclosed that the senate will soon publish details of lawmakers’ salaries and allowances to address growing public concerns over remuneration.
