The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has ordered the distribution of weapons for officers across the country in preparation for the 2023 general election.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi gave the order in a statement in Abuja, directing Commissioners of Police nationwide to work in synergy with all members of the inter-agency consultative committees on election security to address threats of political violence and ensure swift prosecution of violators of extant electoral laws.
He further enjoined them to ensure adequate and strategic deployment of officers and assets, as well as coordinate officers from all security agencies deployed for election duties.
