The federal government has expanded financial support for cancer patients through targeted health funding and insurance initiatives.
The director-general of the national institute for cancer research and treatment, Usman Malami, said the government is also investing in local research, drug production and clinical trials to improve access to affordable cancer care.
He noted that the interventions are aimed at reducing the high cost of treatment and easing the financial burden on patients across the country.
