The Ogun State House of Assembly has called for the immediate intervention of the state government and the Nigeria Immigration Service, following allegations of maltreatment of residents in border communities, particularly those of Egun descent who are indigenes of the state.
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide, made the call after the lawmaker representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency, Honorable Adebisi Oyedele, raised the matter during plenary, alleging that some Egun residents are being denied Nigerian passports despite fulfilling all necessary application requirements.
Family FM’s Segun Omotanbaje reports that the Speaker ordered an official engagement with the State Controller of Immigration and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to address the complaints.
