The Rivers state independent electoral commission has set 5th of October, 2024 for local government elections in the state.
State Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli made the announcement during a meeting with stakeholders in Port Harcourt.
Enebeli further stated that the announcement is coming barely two weeks after the appointment of caretaker committee Chairman by the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara into the 23 local government areas of the state following the expiration of the tenure of the former council chairmen on the 17th of June, 2024.
