Troops of operation Hadin Kai have rescued 47 persons, mostly women and children, from an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The victims were freed during a military operation conducted on June 20, following sustained offensives against terrorist hideouts in the lake Chad region.

The acting military information officer of the joint task force, captain Mohammed Goni, said the operation reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist camps and rescue civilians held captive.
