The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has asked for the cooperation of Nigerians as it seeks legal action to resolve the issues arising from the payment of half salaries to lecturers by the federal government in order to avert further strike action.
The union made this known during an overnight national executive council meeting in Abuja lamenting that paying academics like casual workers, is unacceptable in the history of university-oriented labour relations.
Recall that the union suspended its eight-month old strike on the 14th of October 2022, in obedience to the order of the national industrial court and in further consideration of intervention efforts of well-meaning Nigerians.
