Yobe State Government has announced that the death toll from Saturday’s boat accident, which occurred in the Nguru Local Government Area of the State, has risen from 25 to 29.
Executive Secretary of the State’s Emergency Management Agency, Mohammad Goje, disclosed this in a statement, stating that four additional bodies were recovered from the river, assuring that the search and rescue operation will continue, as between eight and 10 passengers are still missing.
Goje said that 13 passengers who were injured in the accident had been treated and discharged from a local hospital.
