As today marks the World Mental Health Day, a call has gone to the Federal Government to ensure proper implementation of the mental health act at the grass root level and in Nigeria as a whole.

Speaking on the theme ‘mental health is a universal human right”, the World Health Organization made the call noting that the day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

Recall that Former President, Muhammadu Buhari had signed the harmonized mental health bill into law. However, the bill, which was harmonized by The Senate and House of Representatives in 2021, will replace the lunacy act of 1958.
