The Federal government has expressed concern over the presence of about 26 thousand children in custodial centers over the past five years.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo raised this concerns at a high-level inter-agency meeting held in Abuja to address the urgent issue of children deprived of liberty in correctional facilities.
Tunji-Ojo therefore stated that there will be a specific focus on the alarming number of children at the centers and the broader goal of reforming Nigeria’s justice system.
