Students of the Polytechnic Ibadan have staged a protest at the Oyo state government secretariat against the renaming of the institution after a Former Governor of the state, Omololu Olunloyo.

The students, who stormed the state   government secretariat in numbers, urged governor Seyi Makinde to protect the legacy and name of the polytechnic Ibadan by reversing his decision to name it after the late stateman, as proposed last week during the funeral rites.

However, the executive assistant to the state government on security, Sunday Odukoya, addressed the students and appealed to them to maintain calm.
