The National President of the Nigeria union of local government employees, Haruna Kankara says 20 states have yet to implement the 70 thousand Naira new minimum wage for local government workers and primary school teachers.
According to him, the states include Yobe, Gombe, Zamfara, Kaduna, Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River and 13 others, while listing states that have commenced the payment to includes Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Niger, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Jigawa, Gombe, Kebbi, Ondo and Kogi.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on the 29th of July, 2024, signed the minimum wage bill into law after months of negotiations with labor unions.
