A couple living in Lagos state, identified as FRED and goodness, have been arrested by the police for allegedly faking their own kidnapping and collecting 10 million naira as ransom from their families and friends.
State Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, who confirmed the news to journalists, said the couple staged the fake kidnap in order to raise money for the husband, who wanted to travel back to The United States but did not have enough financial support.
Adebisi further revealed that the wife admitted that she encouraged her husband to plan the fake kidnapping, while assuring the public that the couple will be charged to court after investigations are completed.
The house of representatives has defended the delay in passing the electoral amendment bill, saying it is meant to Harmonise views and ensure a credible legal framework.
House spokesman Akintunde Rotimi said the delay will help address gaps from the 2023 General Election and Strengthen Nigeria’s Democracy.
He added that while the house passed the bill before the December recess, the senate is still working on it.
