Kogi state governor, Ahmed Ododo has approved the constitution of flood disaster response team in view of projections by regulatory agencies that states along rivers Niger and Benue are at risk of flooding.
Ododo, who spoke to journalists, said the team, when inaugurated in due course, is expected to coordinate the state government flood response strategies and execute the state action plan on flooding to reduce the effects of flooding on communities along rivers Niger and Benue.
He further revealed that the decision of the state government to set up the response team is to prevent losses and protect lives and property in flood-prone areas.
