The federal government has announced targeted imports of liquefied petroleum gas as an immediate measure to address rising cooking gas prices nationwide.
Chief executive of the Nigerian midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority, Rabiu Umar, said the imports will help bridge the current supply gap and stabilise prices.
He added that Nigeria must expand liquefied petroleum gas storage, terminal and distribution facilities to prevent shortages and ensure steady supply across the country.
