The senate committee on public accounts has given the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the central bank of Nigeria and other agencies 72 hours to appear before it over unanswered audit queries.

The ultimatum follows the failure of officials of the invited agencies to honour the committee’s invitation or provide reasons for their absence.

Chairman of the committee, senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, said the appearance is part of the senate’s oversight function, while Senator Babangida Hussaini described the agencies’ absence as disrespectful to the national assembly.
