The Nigerians in diaspora commission has urged the government of South Africa to protect Nigerians and other African migrants amid rising xenophobic attacks and harassment.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the Nigerians in diaspora commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the commission said tensions against black immigrants were escalating despite previous diplomatic efforts between both countries.

Nidcom revealed that children of Nigerian descent now fear going to school, while some business owners have shut down operations over reported attacks, looting, and intimidation in recent days.
