The House of Representatives has commenced clause-by-clause consideration of President Bola Tinubu’s executive bill to establish state police.

Deputy speaker and chairman of the house constitution review committee, Benjamin Kalu, said lawmakers will build on the senate’s version to fast-track the constitutional amendment, with only minor changes expected.

Kalu recalled that the house withdrew its earlier state police bill to consider the President’s proposal as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
