The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill seeking to establish the national authority for renewable energy to coordinate and regulate the sector.
The bill, sponsored by Afam Ogene, representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra state, seeks to consolidate renewable energy functions currently handled by different agencies.
Ogene says the proposed authority will improve coordination, eliminate duplication of responsibilities and accelerate renewable energy development across Nigeria.
