The Nigerian Senate says it is set to resume ahead of the official transmission of names of ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu barely three weeks after the house embarked on its post-inauguration break.

According to a new amendment of the 1999 constitution, the president and governors must submit the names of persons nominated as ministers or commissioners within 60 days of taking the oath of office for confirmation by the senate or state house of assembly.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who spoke to newsmen, said the house is expected to dedicate one week to perform the screening exercise.
