Troops of operation Fansan Yamma, backed by the Nigerian Air Force, have rescued Amina Abubakar, widow of the late major general Rabe Abubakar, from bandit captivity.
The defence headquarters said the rescue follows intensified search-and-rescue operations that led troops to the kidnappers’ hideout in Tunga village in Katsina State.
The military disclosed that the bandits shot the victim before fleeing as troops advanced, leading to her successful recovery.
