A Joint Security Operation Involving the Nigerian Army, DSS and Amotekun has killed a Senior Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) commander, Abdussamad Ohida, also known as Anwar, in Owo forest, Ondo state.

Security sources say Ohida and several other terrorists were killed during a surprise assault on their hideout over the weekend.

The operation reportedly foiled planned attacks by the ISWAP commander to launch attacks in parts of Southern Nigeria during the forthcoming yuletide and disrupt the 2027 general elections.
