The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Oyo State has threatened mass protests over the alleged failure of two state-owned tertiary institutions to implement Governor Seyi Makinde’s approved pension increase.
The union said daily protests will begin on august 18 at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital and Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.
The pensioners have also asked the Nigeria Labour Congress to declare a three-day warning strike, insisting the action is necessary to enforce compliance with the governor’s directive.
